Preko leaves FC Ifeanyiubah for Ghana role

Yaw Preko has temporarily left his managerial role at Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side FC Ifeanyiubah.

Thepredictorng.com sources explained that though Preko signed a one-year deal with the Nnewi club which meant his contract expired last season, the management of the club and the Ghanaian coach reached an agreement to allow him leave and take up the head coach job for the Under-20 men’s national team in his country.

“Preko remains a part of us and we have left the door open for him to return anytime because he is a fantastic coach and has done a very good job with the team in the one season he has spent with us.

“Actually he did not leave the club or was sacked as being reported. He got an offer from his country for the Under-20 job and as footballing people we cannot stop him from taking up such a role to serve his country. If it was in Nigeria here he could have handle both jobs,” thepredictorng.com was informed on Friday.

However, a top official of FC Ifeanyiubah has hinted that the club are not brining in a replacement for Preko since they still consider him part of their technical crew and would rather elevate one of his assistants to take up the head coach role.

The decision of which of his assistants to fill the role is expected to be taken in the coming days.

Preko became FC Ifeanyiubah head coach at the start of this season after Japanese Kenichi Yatsuhashi who he was supposed to assist left the Nnewi club amid controversial circumstance.
